Energy Buzz
Written by LA Judge Listen to what is being said these days and you will hear the term “energy” popping up everywhere. Products touting “energy” range from energy drinks & bars to vitamins & drug supplements. Computer games regularly award “life-points” of energy that allow the game character to perform better or live longer. Games from such sources as even Disney contain energy vampires that drain “life-force energy” and leave other game characters weak. And even 92 year old ladies speak of World Series baseball games as having the same “energy” as games from three quarters of a century ago. So what is with the term “energy” and what is all the talk about? It seems that energy has become a buzzword of the 21st century. Everyone wants it. Everyone is aware of it. Carbonated beverages aside, it appears that an understanding of energy is starting to enter pop cultural language and conversation as more that just a commodity. The use of the word energy has taken on a human form. Almost anywhere, you can hear someone discussing the “energy” of a situation or stating that they personally have had their “energy” affected. I have even heard conversations where someone states another has “drained the energy” from them or from a group interaction. As a vampire, I find all this energy talk very interesting. People are finally starting to understand that they can feel, understand and be affected by different types of “energy”. All living things are energy sensitive. We can all feel the elemental energy of a storm or the emotional energy of a crowd. Many have revered the beauty of a sunset or bathed in the glow of a child’s soft laugh yet never understood why they were affected. Unless we need or use energy, we humans generally tend to ignore that energy exists because living energy has not been provable by hard cold scientific fact. But even that is starting to change. In the past few years, science has finally started to develop the tools by which it can measure living energy. Human Energy Fields (HEF), bio-electric and bio-magnetic energies can all now be shown to exist and measured. Studies in the past few years have also started to look living energy and how it interacts. Empathy for instance has been measured and proven on a small scale. Science can now show that it is physically possible “feel” the pain of another. And the results of the research can be duplicated by others. New research in genetics and psychology shows what may prove to be a genetic link for other types of and levels of “energy”. There is starting to be measurable proof that humans have a genetic need for a “spiritual energy” and a genetic / psychological link for what is being called “exuberance” or the energy level at which one approaches life. Is it a brave new world when it comes to understanding “energy”? Or is science and language just finally catching up to what has been there all along. Who knows? But one thing is for sure, with all this current energy buzz, explaining to someone that you are lacking energy and need to gain it from living sources has become a whole lot easier and believable in the past few years. |
